Elizabeth and Justin reached out to me about a Big Sur elopement. They lived in Florida and were looking to have a simple, intimate wedding along the coast. They decided on Glen Oaks for the ceremony and The Road House for the reception.
Elizabeth arrived in CA a few days before her wedding to a very wet and rainy Big Sur! She was nervous about it raining on her wedding day and I told her not to worry and that stormy weather makes for some amazing photos (my favorite type of weather to shoot in)! Sure enough her wedding date came and it was pouring rain! I had lived in Carmel for 30 years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much rain haha. I head down to Glen Oaks and when I get there she tells me they had to move cabins because the river was flooding, the whole place was muddy and wet and just pouring down rain. I kept reassuring her that the wedding would be absolutely beautiful and rain on your wedding day is good luck! Of course the wedding ceremony was absolutely stunning, her small group of family and friends stood beneath the redwoods and watched as Elizabeth and Justin said I do.
After the ceremony Elizabeth and Justin jumped in my car and off we went to take some photos of just the two of them. All the beaches were closed due to heavy rain and flooding so we drove along the coast finding little spots to jump out and take photos. We would park, wait for the rain to stop hop out, get some photos real quick and run back to the car. By the time we were done we all looked like drown rats, but it was one of the best times I had taking wedding photos. We laughed the entire time and got some AMAZING pictures! Nothing beats the Big Sur coastline and a stormy sky! After pictures everyone met up at The Road House and the rest of the night was filled with laughs and dancing. There couldn’t have been a more perfect way to end the night for Elizabeth and Justin wedding.
